Wellesley Little League 2010 Summer Travel Baseball
Wellesley Little League invites boys and girls ages 8 through 12 to participate in our summer baseball program.
2009 saw Wellesley win 5 summer baseball championships and we hope for similar success in 2010. Again this year, our summer baseball program will participate in the Suburban Youth Baseball League (SYBL) and the Foxboro league with Towns from our surrounding area. Each of our summer leagues offer varying levels of competition. To make sure that each child participates in a league that will provide a positive baseball experience we conduct spring tryouts for all registered summer participants. After our tryouts, our coaches and evaluators meet to determine which program will provide each participant with the best summer baseball experience and establish rosters accordingly. For the 10 and 11 year old teams we may have two "A" teams if we feel each can be competitive. When considering if Summer baseball is right for your player, please note that we expect players to commit to the entire season and be available for all games and tournaments. With the exception of tournaments, we try to stay away from playing on the weekends.
For players not assigned to one of our travel teams, we again will offer an in town program run by Terriers Baseball. A more detail look at our programs can be seen below. To register for our summer baseball program, please click here.
We look forward to a great summer of baseball, and hope you join us!
Sincerely,
Bob Cronin
Summer Baseball Coordinator
U8's:
Our U8's participate in the Foxboro League and compete for the "Braintree Cup". In 2007 and 2008 Wellesley won its first two Cups and in 2009 Wellesley made it to our 3rd straight Final. This friendship league is a terrific introduction to competitive baseball and offers organized kid pitch baseball with umpires. Games are typically scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday, with the season starting the last week of June. Teams play to qualify for an end of season tournament held in late July and early August, and typically play 12-14 games.
U9's:
Our 9's participate in the Suburban Youth Baseball League (SYBL). This league offers competitive baseball with umpires, and allows for base stealing and bunting. Games are typically scheduled for Monday, Wednesday, and sometimes Friday, with the season starting the last week in June. Teams play to qualify for an end of season tournament held in late July and early August, and typically play 12-14 games. At this age group we stratify the group into an "A" and "B" teams to insure they play against players of like skill.
U10's
Our 10's participate in the Suburban Youth Baseball League (SYBL). This league offers competitive baseball with umpires, and allows for base stealing and bunting. Games are typically scheduled for Monday, Wednesday, and sometimes Friday, with the season typically starting the last week of June. Teams play to qualify for an end of season tournament held in late July and early August, and typically play 12-14 games. Additionally, this age group will play 1-2 weekend tournaments in June or July.
U11's
Our 11's participate in the Suburban Youth Baseball League (SYBL). This league offers competitive baseball with umpires, and allow for base stealing and bunting. Games are typically scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday, with the season typically starting June 24th. Teams play to qualify for an end of season tournament held in early August. U12's
Our 12's participate in the Williamsport Little League World Series, and the Suburban Youth Baseball League (SYBL). The Little League World Series is a double elimination tournament which begins play in early July. The SYBL schedule runs from early July and ends in early August. The exact number of SYBL games will be determined and potentially limited by this group's involvement in the Williamsport Tournament.
